Hi, I'm Patricia and teaching is my passion. I currently have 2 Masters degrees and hold 4 New York State permanent and professional certifications: Elementary Education (N-6), Reading, Educational Technology, and Music. I have 20 years of teaching experience in both 3rd and 4th grades. This coming school year I look forward to being both the Technology and Music teacher for grades K-8 in my school. For the past ten years, I have also taught part time on the undergraduate level at a local private college. Currently teaching in the Math/Computer Science Department, I also spent a few semesters in the Child Study Department teaching math and science methods to pre-service teachers.
Life was throwing some challenges my way and I was looking for a way to de-stress and make some level-headed decisions. I came to Reiki (or perhaps Reiki found me) in order to meet these challenges. In May, 2006, I completed the Level 1 class. In June 2007 I became certified as a Reiki Master with the ability to teach all levels of Reiki within the Usui/Tibetan tradition. My teacher during this time was Lorraine Austin. In April, 2008, I completed all levels of Karuna Reiki® training with William Lee Rand and in April, 2009, I became an Intermediate Level Reiki Crystal Healing Practitioner after completing a series of workshops with Laurelle Shanti Gaia. (The advanced class doesn't exist yet and the intermediate course was evolving as we were taking in it!)
I heard about IET through a local Reiki organization I belong to, the Long Island Reiki Connection. Feeling called to investigate this method further, I felt a short introductory presentation wasn't going to be enough for me to determine whether IET was Reiki in another flavor or a valid energy therapy in its own right. I decided that finding a practitioner and experiencing a full treatment for myself was the best way to go, and it was.
I found a teacher and practitioner in my area, Maria Kramer-Robinson, and received a session from her. After a wonderful experience with the IET energy, I decided to sign up for the full series of classes Maria would be holding in a few weeks. Taking her classes enabled me to be a practitioner up to the Advanced level but to become a Master Instructor, I would have to take a class from one of only a few people in the world with the ability to teach such a class. Lucky for us (the Advanced practitioners in the area) Maria would be hosting one of those people, Karen Puglia, in a Master-Instructor workshop the following month. I signed up as soon as registration for the class opened up! In September, 2008, I became an IET Master-Instructor and 2 months later taught my first IET class. An Advanced class. Leave it to me to jump right in! (And I can still hear the words of my Reiki Master during the Level 3b Master Teacher class: "Just focus on learning the level 1 attunement procedure. You won't have to worry about the others for a while." If she only knew!)
In April of 2010 (are we seeing a pattern yet?), I had the privilege of taking Doreen Virtue's Mediumship workshop. While this was an accreditation course with lots of time for practice, my mediumship skills are still developing. While I'll gladly pass on any messages from Spirit that I think may benefit you while you are having your Reiki or IET session with me, I'm not quite ready to go prime time with any serious mediumship sessions. If you would like a mediumship session, it would be strictly for entertainment purposes only! In October 2010, I completed a 4-day Angel Therapy Practioner® course, also given by Doreen Virtue. While any Angel readings you request will be done for entertainment purposes only, healing techniques/modalities learned during this course will be incorporated into your session as needed.
So, with teaching being my passion, I look forward to meeting many students of all ages in the coming years and passing along the knowledge and attunements that are part of these two wonderful energy healing modalities, Reiki and IET.
In addition to the above, I also have various musical interests as I play the violin with local community orchestras on Long Island and am a Board member of The Recorder Society of Long Island. I also enjoy knitting, long walks in the park with my dog, Buddy, and creating web sites (I created this one all by myself!)
I teach the whole person. We all learn through a combination of modalities: visual, kinesthetic, and auditory, to name a few. Some of us are stronger in one area than in another. Therefore, my classes are structured to meet the needs of a variety of learners. Students may record most lectures. Participants in select Reiki classes will view videos. Manuals are provided with ample space to take notes. And of course, all levels of Reiki and IET classes provide time for hands-on practice of the techniques and attunements (if applicable) learned in the classes. Children's classes are age-appropriate and include lots of time to take breaks, move about and play fun energy games.
In addition, I will support you, in a safe and caring environment, through the joys and frustrations of learning something new.
Although we as Reiki and IET practitioners may sometimes be referred to as healers, and Reiki and IET are advertised as healing energy therapies, the ability to heal comes from within the person seeking the healing. I simply facilitate the experience by channeling the energy that you use to heal yourself on all levels, and I offer to support you as you travel on your healing journey. You must be willing to make the changes necessary in your life that you need to make in order to bring about the healing you seek. Reiki and IET can support you in making those changes.
Reiki and IET are complimentary methods to a variety of ways that you can choose to invite healing into your life. Continue to explore the place diet, exercise, sunlight, and the eastern and allopathic medical traditions play in your overall healing experience.
My mission is a simple one. As my client and my student, in a caring, compassionate, safe environment, I will support you on your healing journey as you become empowered to heal yourself on all levels: mental, emotional, spiritual and physical. In addition, as my student, I will pass on to you the knowledge and attunements necessary for the successful practice of the Reiki and IET levels you are studying.
